"description":"<div style='text-align:Left;'><div><div><p><span>The graduated flood risk maps were developed for 10-, 20-, 50-, 100-, and 500-year return periods. The results for the Base Flood (100-year, or 1% annual exceedance) are presented in the maps herein. MBI and DNREC used FEMA coastal models to estimate coastal conditions across Delaware and performed spatial extent extrapolation and boundary delineation for all return periods, current sea level conditions, and two future Sea Level Rise (SLR) scenarios (0.72 ft SLR estimated for 2050 and 1.71 ft SLR estimated for 2100). Our team estimated Wave Heights in the extended floodplains using the Total Water Elevation and Still Water Elevation data and developed depth grids to quantify spatial flood depths for the five return periods of interest. This work was completed in February of 2025.<\/span><\/p><p><span>These maps are intended to provide information on future coastal flood risk and support flood mitigation planning. The physics-based modeling methods incorporate factors such as topography, hydrology and hydraulics, and coastal dynamics, but carry inherent uncertainties. <\/span><span>These data are non-regulatory and should not be used in place of the effective regulatory floodplains or coastal zones. This should be used as supplementary data to evaluate potential flood risks, particularly under potential future sea level conditions.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>",
